Contract  Negotiation

Contract negotiation is one of the core services that we provide to our clients. Nadeau Sports Management (NSM) aims to develop a negotiation strategy based on the clients’ goals. We have experience in legal contracts, mediation, negotiation and international law, giving the client well-balanced representation at the bargaining table. In order to maximize your earning potential we have constructed an extensive database that includes import player statistics, backgrounds and contract values that will provide a recent and comparable baseline from which to negotiate. In addition to negotiating a players’ contract, NSM will protect our clients’ contractual rights under their Contractual Playing Agreement as well as under the rules of the International Ice-Hockey Federation (IIHF). If there are any problems, big or small, it will be our job to represent you and your contractual rights and deal directly with team management. We are PHPA Agent Certified and being AHL-ECHL certified means that we are well versed and very familiar with both the AHL and ECHL Collective Bargaining Agreements. This knowledge allows us to protect your contract rights effectively.

Team  Placement &  Tryouts

 The main service that NSM provides for our clients is player placement with professional Ice-Hockey teams in North America & Europe. We have an extensive database of contacts with teams and aim to find the right team in the right country for you. We have both the contacts, and connections that will allow you the opportunity to continue your career as a professional player. We guarantee a legitimate tryout if we decide to represent you. 

Passport - Visa &  Immigration Information

Securing a Working Visa for the USA, Canada or Europe can be difficult, time-consuming and aggravating. We assist you in obtaining and completing the necessary paperwork while helping you to navigate through the legal red-tape. 

Insurance (Life and Casualty)

It is essential to be properly insured if you are going to begin a new hockey career overseas. Life and Casualty insurance is a necessity for any player and in many cases is also a Visa requirement. While you will be covered by League insurance when you are on the ice, it will be necessary to have your own medical coverage for any emergency that may arise. NSM aims to ensure that you are protected off the ice so all you have to worry about it is your performance on the ice.

Housing Arrangements

NSM will negotiate for pre-paid housing to be a standard clause in your contract, in addition to your salary. In most European and North American Leagues, players’ salaries are normally supplemented with free housing. In the event that an apartment is not part of your contractual agreement, NSM will provide you with the necessary information and language translation (if necessary) to find and secure affordable housing.

Trades, Transfers & 2nd Contracts

Once you have your initial contract, NSM will endeavour to secure you a second contract that reflects your true earning potential. With a year of Professional Hockey experience under your belt, we will be in a stronger position to negotiate on your behalf. Secondly, if there is an irreconcilable problem or you are released during the season, it will be the responsibility of NSM to arrange a trade, transfer or tryout with a new team.

Attorney/Legal

NSM will use outside legal advice for our clients if they have any additional legal needs outside of the ice rink in North America. In Europe, we have numerous connections with European legal experts who will provide the best legal advice to handle whatever concerns and questions that you may have.

Accounting, Tax Planning & Money Management

NSM has engaged the services of a personal taxation professional who has over 20 years of experience doing accounting and tax planning for Canadian and American clients. If you need these services NSM is more than confident to refer you to this outside professional.
